WWII
The inevitable WWII still came, with Germany building up its power in the last 20 or so years, they had so much energy suppressed they launched out to a firing start, with armies that has a huge amount of discipline and large ambitions, the German army had gained success in the first 2 years of the war. Thanks to the cruel and inhumane nature of the war, the Nazis no longer have to worry what the people will say on the way they execute and process through the persecution of the Jews. It was at the most darkening days of the German Jewish history. Concentration camps were set up all over Germany, in Poland even, the first country where they had invaded. Nazis also had set up ghettos in territories they had taken over and filled them with more people. In Warsaw, the capital of Poland, the Nazis crammed 380,000 Jews which was 30% of the population into less than 3% of its area. By 1942, more than 50,000 Jews had died because of hunger, cold, diseases so minor in the Warsaw ghetto.
However, what the Nazis were most famous for was its concentration camps. They had started building them since 1933, but after 1939, the war had started, they built more and more camps. The numbers of people stockpiled in those camps would increase so fast, as fast as 70,000 more people in a camp, where originally it was scheduled to hold 1,000 people. The Prisoners held hostage in there were often used as a living human experiment, where Doctors, specifically ONE doctor, who's often referred to the "Angel of Death" tests new drugs on those people to see if it could be used on human beings. Often times people would die in those camps out of starvation, overwork, and mistreatment. The Nazis even had a disgusting policy of not executing those prisoners, but instead have them work themselves to death.
There was one other frightening factor of the Nazis, which was the Einsatzgruppen. They were the elite SS death squads, and were extremely effective b/tw 1939-41, when they went into the USSR behind the German army, and murdered virtually anyone, even innocent civillians that they regarded as "undesirable", or as in Jews, or some other sub-humans. There was an incident when they summoned a group of Jews over to "relocate" them, instead, the Jews walked into an open pit for the SS killing squad to open fire at them. More than 50,000 were shot. By the end of the war, this elite killing squad had killed 1.5 million Jews, gypsies, and communist leaders. More than 6 millions Jews were dead after these dark days.
Final Solution
The Final solution was never executed fully, so that was very fortunate. It was going to be the most brutal, killing of an entire race in human history, it was planned to exterminate every single Jewish person. It started in 1942, where 6 major death camps were set up. Auschwitz, Chelmno and Majdanek made into death camps from concentration camps or labour camps. New ones were built in Belzec, Sobibr and Treblinka. They were all run by SS officers, and built very far away from Germany. Each had a group of the German Army guarding it. Prisoners usually arrived in trains, and the majority were killed ASAP. The sick, the weak, the useless and the handicapped were usually killed first, and what ever they owned would be now in the Nazis possession. The way they were killed was even more disgusting. They were sent into gas chambers to slowly let the posionous gas infect their internal organs, dissolve them one by one, and die a painful death. What was even more morally dark was that they were lied to before they died, they were told that they were going to take a shower, even given towels and all, but the smell of the crematoria (the burying site) gave it away to some.
The most famous killing camp was at Auschwitz, where one could hold up to 1200 men and the other 800. They built a new one there in 1943 that could hold up to 2000 men. Doors would be screwed shut after all men had entered the chambers. The longest death could last up till 20 mins of torture. During the time period of 1924-44, the extermination of Jews were at its highest point in history. 400,000 Hungarian Jews were exterminated in gas chambers alone, in 3 months! Eventually the killing began to slow down as Germany was forced to back up into their own country. Still, about 90% of the Jews in Germany, Austria and Poland were already dead.
The persecution and extermination of Jews would always remain as one of the darkest spots that will ever appear in Human history. No matter how much the Nazis had paid for the battle, they will never get true redemption, since this was just too brutal to be true. Holocaust is the official word to describe such an inhumane event that had happened to the Jews, which is more than just a euphemism, and certainly much more than only undermining the severity of this incident. May this kind of tragedy never happen in Human history ever again.
