Persecution of the Jews
The Nazis were very busy cleaning up Germany as a "racial hygienic" nation, where all people would be Aryans, and those who aren't would be set in a different level as the noble "Aryans", or "pure" white Germans. They would be referred to as the "sub-humans" of Germany. To start with their re-organizing levels, they targeted mainly the German Jews. These were the people the Nazi's had despised the most. The reason Nazis hated them was because of their conflicting beliefs and religion with Nazi-ism, their different looks, different customs and so on. They were also used as the scape goats to the defeat in WWI, leading the German public to grow quite a strong hatred for the Jews, and were also somehow linked with the communist rebels. But most of the times they were hated because they were seen as rich, selfish capitalists who didn't give a damn about anybody else around them. Still, most Germans were brainwashed by Hitler, so we can't really blame them for their wrong accusations of the Jews.
It was way back in 1925, when Hitler had started his opposing views against the Jews, in his book Mein Kampf, he talks about how there was a hierarchy in races, that Aryans were at the highest level, or the "superior race", and all of them were to be blonde, white, and athletic. Then the other races such as the Slavs, the Untermenschen or "sub-humans" came next which included blacks and Africans, and THEN, the Jews and gypsies, sitting at the bottom level of the sub-humans category. Hitler claimed that these races were "unworthy of life", or Lebensunwertes.
When Hitler came in possession of certain amounts of power in 1933, he immediately started the persecution of the Jews. He started off w/ mild things, like propaganda to get people to dislike the Jews, but then he went on to a more extreme level, where he starts a boycott of Jewish shops and products, and then Jews were banned from working for the government, and then they weren't allowed to inherit any land forms from their relatives. And when 1935 came, the Jews were already banned from the joining the army, and banned from visiting any restaurants.
Things really got taken to the next level when the Nazis set up the Nuremberg Laws on 15 September, 1935. The law stated that all Jews could not become German citizens, they had lost almost every single right they'd own as a person e.g. can't vote, have to sit on a certain seat on the bus, cant marry Germans, and they HAVE to wear a yellow patch on their shirts to show that they are a lower class, and different. And in 1938, the restrictions to the Jews have increased yet again, this time Jews who works as a serving doctor, dentists, lawyers etc. were all forbidden to work for any Aryan Germans, they had a different ID card that shows they are Jews, and they all had to report the possession they own to the government, so they can be easier controlled to put in better words, but in reality just easier for the government to confiscate (steal) their property.
Kristallnacht
It was the 7 November, 1938, when a Jew named Hershel Grynszpan went inside of the German embassy in Paris and shot Ernst von Rath, a German. He did this because of the hatred he and the Jews had built up the past 5 years or so with the unfairness in treating them. Yet the Germans were all blind with revenge, and so a wave of anger and declaration of war against the Jew took place. Everyone were furious towards the Jews, especially after the Fuhrer, Hitler, decided to broadcast on national news that he'd do nothing to stop a revolt against the Jews started by the Germans. And the result was quite straight forward, the attack on the Jews took place for 2 days, from 9-10 November, 1938. The SA joined in too in the attack of the Jews, in fact they saw it as an order set from Hitler that it was their responsibility to kill as many Jews and burn as many houses as they possibly can. Meanwhile the SS were trying to arrest as many Jews as they can and throw them inside the prisons. A total of 814 shops, 171 homes, and 191 synagogues were destroyed within 2 days. Even so, these figures were still underestimated. At least 100 Jews were killed, and because of the immense damage the Germans had done to the Jews, this day is referred to the Kristallnacht, directly translated to 'Crystal Night' , meaning lots of broken glasses, lots of dead people and destruction.
Yet after the Kristallnacht, Goebbels still managed to blame the Jews for such an unfortunate incident. The Jews were demanded to pay back the German government 1 BILLION marks for the repairment fee of the damage, Jews were banned from even running any shops/businesses, and they weren't allowed to attend any German based schools or universities.
By 12 November 2012, the SA and the SS were told to get all the Jews as punishment for the Kristallnacht, and 20,000 Jews were sent to the concentration camps the Germans had set up. Persecution of the Jews continued, and increased in 1939, when the Nazi government decided to set up a new office just to get the Jewish deported from Germany by forced emigration, but the progress of this wasn't too successful. As a result in April, all Jews had to be evicted from their homes and forced to live in a certain, low-leveled areas now commonly referred to as the ghettos. Here they wait to be deported or sent to concentration camps.
Still, persecution got even WORSE after the WWII had began.
